Frequently asked questions about the SCROMMEL?

1. How is the SCROMMEL different than other reclaimers?
After building over 200 trommel type reclaimers we were aware of their advantages and disadvantages compared to screw type reclaimers.
With the SCROMMEL we married the two types of reclaimers together taking advantage of their inherent strong points while eliminating their weak points. Screw type reclaimers are low maintenance, but have had problems cleaning material, with overcharging issues, and the clogging of the shaker screens with fiber mesh.  Trommels, on the other hand, clean and screen better but require substantially more maintenance, due to the number of moving parts.  We've incorporated a trommel into a screw.  This patented idea has proven itself, providing very clean material that can be re-used in your mix designs, while requiring very little if any maintenance. Our models 2414 and 2418 have 2 electric motors, 2- gearboxes, and a pump, and require no greasing!

2. Why do you sell factory direct? 14 years of experience has shown us the best way to sell our product is is direct.
No matter how good a sales representative is, there is nobody that knows our product like us.  This is our only business
and our livelihood depends on it.  We will come to your plant and visit with you, fact to face, and answer all your questions.  We find dealing direct eliminates the "gray areas.  Should there be a question about something, you know who to tlak to.  there is no run around, and no phone tag.  We find our direct approach not only saves you money, but eliminates any confusion.

3. What kind of pits do I need? Pits are a critical part of reclaiming ready-mix.  If they are too small, or designed poorly, it doesn't matter how good the reclaimer is.  SCROMMEL visits you site prior to processing your order, to assist you in the design and layout of your pits.  Reclaiming is our only business; we have to do it right!

4. Can I rebatch the slurry and suspended solids with the SCROMMEL? No, although many of our customers will use the clarified water for batching to reduce their water needs.  We do not attempt to blend the waste back into your mix designs.  We keep it simple; we give you extremely clean rock and sand back to re-use! If you want to rebatch your waste there are reclaimer companies attempting to provide that service.

5. Is slump important when discharging into the SCROMMEL? No, in fact wetter is better.  Slump was critical on our older equipment, but not the SCROMMEL.  We found drivers take on  a bunch of water no matter what they are told, so we designed the SCROMMEL to meet this “ fact of life”.  Our hoppers are smooth and steep, so the rock and sand will slide into the equipment at no slump.  There is no need to baby sit the drivers.

6. What do I do with the leftover paste from the pits? It can be used as a neutralizing agent in feedlots, dairies and on farm fields.  Others use it in their flowable fill designs, while some producers are so happy to reduce their waste stream by over 85% they simply have it back hauled to the quarry where is blended into their road base material, or dumped.

7. How much money will I save? Nobody can predict your savings but you, every plant site is different. By selling factory direct we are able to pass on 15% to 25% savings by eliminating sales representative companies commissions.  Almost without exception our producers find they have more returned concrete than they thought they did. There are a lot of savings to be had in reclaiming. We have a worksheet toward the front of the brochure that can used to assist you in this.  Some of the savings include, Returned Usable Rock and Sand, Drivers Wages, Truck Expense, Haul-Off Cost, Drum Rinse Water, Tipping Fees, as well as Space.  When you plug in the numbers; you'll find the SCROMMEL is very profitable and has an extremely high return on your investment.
